Eminent Domain is Theft in Abington, Too

Saturday morning, sixteen hardy liberty lovers, undaunted by the cold weather and steady rain, gathered in the domain of the Abingtown township commissioners, a nasty little criminal gang that likes to steal from little old ladies. Their latest target is a storefront and parking lot in their suburban Philadelphia fiefdom. We came out, under the leadership of folks like Ken Krawchuk, Steve Scheetz and James Babb, to demand the tyrants undo their nonsense and let them know they won’t get away with it lightly. In total, around 40 neighborly folks came out to join on us that cold, cloudy day.

Additional Footage Available

The above 14-minute video is a quick summary of the day’s events. I have another 40 minutes of footage that didn’t make the cut, in case someone else wants to make their own cut of the day’s events. Here it is on Youtube as well: Abington Eminent Domain Protest Oct 17 2009 YouTube Playlist.

Wow, what a waste of time. As long as these people are willing to keep paying taxes to the thugs, the thugs will keep stealing property. If all of these people at this event were actually willing to stop paying taxes to fund these thugs, then we would see real change. Begging the masters to stop being mean just does not work.

If people don’t follow up with disobedience, yes, it will have been wasted. You’re right.

I liked it because it brought the fight to them. And I got to subvert the minarchist ethos with voluntaryist calls, such as to stop voting and paying taxes. Our chant was “eminent domain is theft”, so when I saw cop cars pass by I said “cop cars are theft”. This provoked a discussion with some longtime minarchist folks to explain why that was and they seemed genuinely intrigued with the concept.

Also, a Campaign for Liberty activist told me the concept of victimless crimes clicked into place for him after we talked about it.

Oh cool! Well, it sounds like it was definitely not a waste of time for you. I did not even realize you were there. Good idea to go to these minarchist type things to talk to the minarchists. Probably one of the best places to spread our ideas. Kudos to you!

Oh yes and that is my jerky video. I forgot my gloves and so was shivering most of the time. A lot of these minarchists are very good folks and there is room to work in the same space, at the very least.
